Ideal for an effortless, healthy meal, this recipe uses a slow cooker to gently cook the salmon, allowing the flavors to meld beautifully while keeping the fish moist and flavorful.
Ingredients
Scale
Salmon
- 4 salmon fillets (about 6 oz each)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Honey Garlic Glaze
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
- 1 tsp sesame oil
Garnish
- 2 green onions, sliced
- Sesame seeds
Instructions
- Prepare the slow cooker: Lightly grease the bottom of the slow cooker insert with a small amount of sesame oil or cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Season the salmon fillets: Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels and season both sides with salt and pepper to taste.
- Make the honey garlic glaze: In a small bowl, combine the honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, and sesame oil. Stir well until combined.
- Place salmon in slow cooker: Arrange the salmon fillets skin-side down in the slow cooker in a single layer.
- Pour the glaze over salmon: Evenly pour the honey garlic mixture over the salmon fillets, ensuring each piece is well coated.
- Cook the salmon: Cover the slow cooker and cook on low heat for 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
- Finish and garnish: Carefully remove the salmon fillets using a spatula and place on serving plates. Spoon some of the remaining glaze from the slow cooker over the salmon.
- Garnish and serve: Sprinkle sliced green onions and sesame seeds over the top of the salmon for added flavor and presentation. Serve immediately.
Notes
- Do not overcook the salmon, as slow cookers vary in temperature. Check for doneness at 1.5 hours.
- For a thicker glaze, remove the salmon once cooked and simmer the glaze on the stovetop for a few minutes to reduce.
- Serve with steamed rice and vegetables for a complete meal.
- You can substitute tamari for soy sauce to make this gluten-free.
