Description

A vibrant and fun Layered Jello Pie featuring colorful layers of red, orange, and yellow jello set in a buttery graham cracker crust, topped with fluffy whipped cream and optional gold sanding sugar for a festive finish. Perfect for summer parties and family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale

Jello Layers

  • 1 box Red Jello (3 ounces)
  • 1 box Orange Jello (3 ounces)
  • 1 box Yellow Jello (3 ounces)
  • 3 cups Boiling Water (divided)
  • 3 cups Cold Water (divided)
  • Pink Food Coloring (a few drops)
  • Orange Food Coloring (a few drops)
  • Bright Yellow Food Coloring (a few drops)
  • 24 ounces Whipped Cream

Crust

  • 2 packages Graham Cracker Sheets
  • 10 Tablespoons Unsalted Butter, melted

Garnish (optional)

  • Whipped Cream
  • Gold Sanding Sugar

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Crust: Crush the graham cracker sheets into fine crumbs using a food processor or by placing them in a sealed bag and crushing with a rolling pin. Mix the crumbs thoroughly with the melted unsalted butter until the mixture resembles wet sand. Press the crumb mixture evenly into the bottom of a 9-inch pie dish to form the crust. Refrigerate the crust while preparing the jello layers to allow it to set.
  2. Make the Red Jello Layer: In a medium bowl, dissolve the red jello powder in 1 cup of boiling water, stirring until completely dissolved. Add ½ cup of cold water and a few drops of pink food coloring to enhance the red color. Stir well. Pour the red jello mixture over the chilled graham cracker crust evenly. Refrigerate until the jello is set but still slightly tacky, approximately 30-45 minutes.
  3. Make the Orange Jello Layer: Repeat the process with the orange jello box: dissolve in 1 cup boiling water, add ½ cup cold water and orange food coloring, then let cool slightly. Carefully pour the orange jello layer over the set red jello layer. Return to refrigerator to set, about 30-45 minutes.
  4. Make the Yellow Jello Layer: Similarly, prepare the yellow jello by dissolving the powder in 1 cup boiling water, adding ½ cup cold water and bright yellow food coloring for a vivid color. Pour over the set orange layer and refrigerate until fully set, approximately 1 hour.
  5. Add Whipped Cream Layer: Once all jello layers are fully set, spread 24 ounces of whipped cream evenly over the top of the pie to create a creamy finish.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Optionally, garnish the pie with additional dollops of whipped cream and sprinkle with gold sanding sugar for a festive sparkle. Chill the pie until ready to serve and slice carefully to maintain clean layers.

Notes

  • Make sure each jello layer is set but still slightly tacky before pouring the next layer to ensure proper adhesion and neat layers.
  • If you do not have food coloring, you can omit it, but the colors will be less vibrant.
  • To crush graham crackers without a food processor, place them in a sealed plastic bag and use a rolling pin or heavy object to crush them finely.
  • This pie is best served chilled and enjoyed within 2 days for optimal texture and freshness.
  • For a dairy-free version, use coconut whipped cream or another non-dairy whipped topping.
