A tropical Hawaiian Guava Cake with soft vanilla layers, a sweet guava glaze, and a creamy guava cream cheese topping. Perfect for summer gatherings and celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box vanilla cake mix (15.25 oz)
  • 1 cup (240ml) guava nectar
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 package (3 oz) strawberry or guava-flavored gelatin
  • 8 oz (225g) cream cheese, softened (for frosting)
  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened (for frosting)
  • 4 cups (480g) powdered sugar (for frosting)
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) guava nectar (for frosting)
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) guava puree or nectar (for glaze)
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch (for glaze)
  • 2 tbsp water (for glaze)
  • 2 tbsp sugar (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together cake mix, guava nectar, oil, eggs, and gelatin powder until well combined.
  3. Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool completely.
  4. For the frosting, beat cream cheese and butter until smooth. Add powdered sugar and guava nectar and mix until fluffy.
  5. For the glaze, combine guava puree, sugar, and cornstarch mixed with water in a small saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring, until thickened. Cool slightly.
  6. Spread frosting over the cooled cake, then pour and spread the guava glaze on top.
  7. Chill for at least 1 hour before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • You can use homemade guava puree or store-bought guava nectar for convenience.
  • Chill the cake well before slicing for cleaner cuts.
  • Decorate with fresh fruit or whipped cream for a festive look.
