Description

Garlic Bread Cheese Toasts are a quick and easy snack or appetizer that combines the rich flavor of garlic butter with melted mozzarella cheese on toasted bread slices. Perfect for a savory treat, these toasts are flavorful, cheesy, and crisp, making them an ideal choice for a comfort food fix or party appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Garlic Butter:

  • 3 tbsp soft butter
  • 1 tsp grated garlic
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste

For the Toasts:

  • 4 slices bread (white or brown)
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Prepare Garlic Butter: In a small bowl, combine the soft butter with grated garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated to create a flavorful garlic butter spread.
  2. Spread Butter on Bread: Take each slice of bread and evenly spread a generous layer of the prepared garlic butter over one side of each slice, ensuring the surface is well coated for maximum flavor.
  3. Add Cheese Topping: Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese evenly on top of the garlic buttered side of each bread slice, covering the surface to create a cheesy topping that will melt perfectly when toasted.
  4. Toast the Bread: Place the prepared bread slices on a baking tray and toast under a preheated broiler or in an oven at 375°F (190°C) for about 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and slightly golden. Alternatively, use a skillet over medium heat to toast and melt the cheese, covering with a lid to help the cheese melt evenly.
  5. Serve Hot: Once done, remove the toasts from the oven or skillet and serve immediately while hot and gooey, making for a delicious snack or appetizer.

Notes

  • You can use any type of bread such as white, whole wheat, or sourdough depending on your preference.
  • Adjust the amount of garlic and oregano to suit your taste for more or less pungency and herbiness.
  • For added flavor, sprinkle some red pepper flakes or parmesan cheese before toasting.
  • Keep an eye on the bread while toasting as cheese can burn quickly under a broiler.
  • Serve with a side of marinara sauce or a fresh salad for a complete snack or light meal.
