Ingredients

Scale

Dough

  • 1 can (226 g) refrigerated crescent roll dough

Filling

  • 240 g cooked crab meat, chopped (fresh, canned, or imitation)
  • 115 g cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tablespoons (30 g) mayonnaise
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon (4 g) Old Bay seasoning or seafood seasoning
  • 56 g shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Finishing Touch

  • Chopped parsley or paprika for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the crescent bites.
  2. Prepare Dough: Unroll the refrigerated crescent roll dough onto a clean surface, gently pressing seams to form a single large sheet.
  3. Make Filling: In a medium bowl, combine the chopped crab meat, softened cream cheese, mayonnaise, finely chopped green onions, Old Bay seasoning, shredded cheese, salt, and pepper. Mix until well incorporated.
  4. Assemble Bites: Cut the dough sheet into small squares or triangles, depending on preference. Place a spoonful of the crab filling onto each piece of dough.
  5. Shape Bites: Fold the dough over the filling to enclose it completely, pinching the edges to seal and form small pockets or triangles.
  6. Bake: Place the assembled bites on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the crescent dough is golden brown and puffed.
  7. Garnish and Serve: Remove from oven, allow to cool for a few minutes, then garnish with chopped parsley or a sprinkle of paprika if desired. Serve warm.

Notes

  • You can use fresh, canned, or imitation crab meat based on availability and preference.
  • Ensure the cream cheese is softened to make mixing easier and the filling creamy.
  • Old Bay seasoning is key for authentic seafood flavor but can be substituted with other seafood seasonings.
  • For extra crispiness, brush the tops with a beaten egg before baking.
  • These bites can be prepared in advance and baked just before serving.
