Ingredients
Scale
Dip Ingredients
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 8 ounces sour cream
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 8 ounces bacon, cooked and chopped
- ½ cup green onions, finely chopped
Bread
- 1 loaf cob bread
Instructions
- Prepare the Cob Bread: Slice the top off the cob loaf and hollow out the inside, creating a bowl-like structure while leaving the crust intact to hold the dip.
- Mix the Dip Base: In a large bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and sour cream until smooth and creamy.
- Add Cheese and Seasoning: Stir in half of the shredded mozzarella, all the shredded cheddar cheese, and garlic powder into the cream cheese mixture until well combined.
- Incorporate Bacon and Onions: Fold in the cooked, chopped bacon and finely chopped green onions evenly into the dip mixture.
- Fill the Bread Bowl: Spoon the prepared dip mixture into the hollowed cob bread, smoothing the top.
- Top with Remaining Cheese: Sprinkle the remaining shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the top of the dip.
- Bake the Dip: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the filled cob loaf on a baking sheet and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese on top is melted and bubbly.
- Serve Warm: Remove from oven and let cool slightly before serving so it can be easily scooped. Serve with the hollowed-out bread pieces or additional crackers and vegetables for dipping.
Notes
- You can prepare the dip mixture ahead of time and refrigerate before baking.
- For a spicier kick, add some chopped jalapeños or a dash of hot sauce to the dip.
- Ensure bacon is drained well after cooking to avoid greasy dip.
- This recipe can be tailored to use different cheese varieties like pepper jack or gouda for unique flavors.
- Leftover dip can be stored covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven.
